The snack at home is something that cannot be overlooked, why? For several reasons, the main one that my daughter arrives starving from school, the second because that is the moment I have to share with my daughter a moment alone, to tell me how it was at school, we talk about chores and more, and lastly why we can’t stop enjoying some delicious snack specially prepared with Abuelita chocolate (my daughter calls it My Abuelita’s chocolate)
In this season of the year that is usually cold and with a lot of rain you can not miss a delicious hot chocolate at home, why Abuelita chocolate? Because it is the one that my mother gave me since I was little and it is the one that I have always used at home, it is already a family tradition and I hope that it continues to be passed down from generation to generation. Then I want to share a couple of recipes prepared with Abuelita chocolate, they are perfect for a delicious snack.
Oatmeal Cookies and Nestlé® Abuelita
Ingredients
Biscuits
- 1 3/4 cups Nestlé® Abuelita granules chocolate flavor
- 3/4 cup butter at room temperature
- 1 egg
- 1 cup of flour
- 1 cup quick cook oatmeal
Cinnamon and Vanilla Glaze
- 1 cup icing sugar
- 4 tsp milk
- 1/2 tsp vanilla
- 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon
Instructions for preparation
Biscuits
- Pre-heat oven to 350 °
- Beat Nestlé® Abuelita chocolate and butter in large bowl until creamy. Add the egg; add the flour little by little and continue beating. Add the oats.
- Roll dough into 1-inch balls; Place them 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheets and flatten them into discs.
- Bake for 10 to 12 minutes. Chill on trays for 2 minutes; and then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Garnish with the cinnamon and vanilla frosting.
Cinnamon and Vanilla Glaze
- Combine the icing sugar with the milk, the vanilla and the ground cinnamon in a small bowl, mix well until there are no lumps.
Nestlé® Abuelita Holiday Drink
Ingredients
- 4 cups hot milk
- 5 heaped tablespoons of Nestlé® Granny Granules chocolate flavor
- 2 tablespoons of vanilla extract
- 1/8 teaspoon nutmeg
- A pinch of ground cloves
- 5 tbsp rum or 2 1/2 tsp rum extract (optional)
Instructions for preparation
- Combine milk, Nestlé® Abuelita chocolate, vanilla extract, nutmeg, and cloves in a large sturdy container.
- Divide the mixture between 5 individual cups and add 1 tablespoon of rum or 1/2 teaspoon of rum extract to each serving if desired. Serve immediately.
